Workers' Compensation Counsel

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking law firms to provide workers' compensation defense counsel legal services for the Workers' Compensation program administered by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). The selected law firms will provide a full range of legal services, including consultation, mediation, and defense litigation. The contract will be for a term of one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. The law firms will work with PASSHE's third-party workers' compensation claims administrator and workers' compensation coordinators. Key aspects of the job include: • Defending workers' compensation claims filed by employees against the 14 Commonwealth-owned Universities and the Office of the Chancellor • Providing legal services, including consultation, mediation, and defense litigation • Working with PASSHE's third-party workers' compensation claims administrator and workers' compensation coordinators • Handling workers' compensation appellate matters • Advising on workers' compensation related matters • Coordinating the defense of workers' compensation claims with each institution's assigned legal counsel • Providing educational training to workers' compensation coordinators and adjusters
