Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) seeks innovative research to design, develop, test, and evaluate next‑generation target‑tracking architectures that fuse multiple data sources and apply AI/ML/MI algorithms within a high‑performance‑computing framework. This open Advanced Research Announcement (ARA) uses a two‑step process: white‑paper submission now through 12 July 2029, followed by invitation‑only full proposals. Funding of approximately $99 M is allocated across FY 25‑29, with individual awards typically ranging from $1 M to $10 M for up to 48 months. The effort is open to all qualified U.S. entities; foreign participation is restricted except for fundamental research or approved FOCI mitigation.
• Develop AI/ML‑driven target‑tracking methods using diverse data (OSINT, SIGINT, imagery, GPS/INS/RFID/telemetry, civilian device sensors).
• Implement 3‑D pixel, vector, and point‑cloud processing, optionally accelerated on HPC platforms.
• Produce prototype solutions that could transition to production contracts or other transactions.
• Comply with stringent security‑risk, S&T protection, and human‑subjects regulations; submit required senior‑person profiles and security questionnaires.
