Description

The City of Cape Canaveral is soliciting bids to replace existing pavement and install a pilot stormwater management system that utilizes permeable paving and underground storage solutions. This project aims to improve stormwater runoff control while testing innovative infrastructure techniques. • Remove existing asphalt and concrete pavement throughout the project site. • Install permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) to allow water infiltration. • Construct underground R‑Tank storage systems (or approved equivalents) with associated stone bedding, inspection ports, and concrete header curbs. • Provide related pavement work, including sub‑base preparation, curbing, and finishing touches. • Mandatory pre‑bid meeting and site visit required for all prospective bidders.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

No budget is disclosed in the solicitation. Based on typical costs for a pilot‑scale stormwater retrofit—including demolition of existing pavement, installation of permeable interlocking concrete, and underground R‑Tank systems—a reasonable estimate ranges from about $0.5 million for a modest site to $2 million for a larger or more complex pilot area. Factors influencing the final amount include site size, depth of underground storage, material prices, and any required ancillary civil works.
