Description

Charles County Public Schools is seeking a non-AI technology portable walk-through weapons detection system and associated secondary screening equipment for purchase and implementation. The proposed solution should be commercially available and currently deployed in K-12 schools, higher education institutions, government facilities, or similar high-occupancy public venues. The system should meet or exceed the requirements of NIJ Standard 0601.01 and have a minimum throughput of 1,200 individuals per hour. The system should also provide continuous detection coverage from floor level to a minimum height of 78 inches, detect small-caliber handguns, large-frame handguns, privately manufactured firearms, folding-blade knives, fixed-blade knives, and other metallic weapons. • The system should have configurable sensitivity settings and a secondary screening rate of less than 10% under normal operating conditions. • The system should be capable of distinguishing likely threat items from common personal belongings. • The system should be non-AI technology portable, designed to support deployment and operation at multiple locations, and capable of being assembled and placed into operational service by a single trained individual within 5 minutes. • The system should have a battery life of at least 10 consecutive hours under normal operating conditions.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

Given the nature of the procurement, which involves the purchase and implementation of portable walk-through weapons detection systems and associated secondary screening equipment, the estimated budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will involve the procurement of multiple units of the detection system, as well as associated software, training, maintenance, and warranty services. The actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements of the contract and the number of units procured.
