Description

NASA’s Technology Transfer Program is seeking license inquiries from companies interested in commercializing a novel yaw‑to‑bank control system designed for deployable entry vehicles such as a folded‑and‑stowed “Deployable Entry Vehicle” (DEV). The technology leverages the dihedral effect to modulate sideslip for rapid bank‑angle control, reducing the need for dedicated roll actuators and enabling faster maneuverability during hypersonic entry. NASA will not provide any funding; the solicitation is solely for licensing rights (exclusive or non‑exclusive) and may include specific fields of use. Interested parties must submit a license application via NASA’s ATLAS portal by the stated deadline.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $250,000

No monetary award is specified; the opportunity is a license for a proprietary technology. Based on typical NASA technology licensing deals, royalties or lump‑sum payments can range widely. A conservative estimate for a first‑time commercial license on a niche hypersonic control system might be between $50 k and $250 k, depending on exclusivity, field‑of‑use scope, and downstream market size.
