South Dakota Interpreter Mentoring Program

The South Dakota Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services, is seeking contractors to provide mentoring services for the South Dakota Interpreter Mentoring Program (IMP). The program aims to develop and support interpreters by providing structured mentoring to promote national certification and ensure high-quality interpreting services statewide. Contractors will be responsible for delivering mentoring services, completing assessments, and submitting reports. The program serves South Dakota residents and those within 50 miles of its border who are registered or intend to register with the state. • The contractor must meet specific qualifications, submit required documentation, complete continuing education, and attend annual trainings and biannual meetings. • Mentees must apply through the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) and demonstrate potential for certification or skill advancement. • Mentor-mentee pairs complete an assessment outlining goals and plans, which must be approved by DRS. • Contractors are responsible for submitting monthly invoices, quarterly progress reports, and in some cases, final reports. • Services must follow approved plans, and compensation depends on funding availability.
