Facility Alternatives Analysis

The Greater Portland Transit District is seeking a qualified consulting/engineering firm to conduct a comprehensive alternatives analysis for the construction of a successor facility to its current operations and maintenance facility. The analysis will evaluate multiple potential options, including expanding and upgrading the existing site or relocating to a new site, and will assess feasibility, cost implications, and operational efficiencies of each alternative. The selected firm will develop cost estimates for the preferred alternative to support a subsequent funding request. Key aspects of the project include: • Conducting a physical and operations assessment of the current site and buildings • Estimating the maximum number of vehicles and employees that a combined site could accommodate • Considering the design of a facility for the charging and maintenance of a future zero-emission bus fleet • Evaluating site alternatives, operational feasibility, environmental impacts, and equity considerations • Developing cost estimates and providing recommendations to support Metro's long-term strategic goals
