RFA Legal Aid for Indigent Immigrants

The Washington State Department of Commerce is soliciting applications for grant funding to provide legal representation or referral services for indigent immigrant persons. The grant aims to prioritize extended legal representation to immigrant persons who qualify as indigent and are at the highest risk of imminent removal or extreme harm. The grant will fund organizations providing legal services, including hiring or maintaining attorneys, recruiting and training volunteers, and providing referrals to social services. The grant period is from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027. • The grant is open to entities that satisfy the minimum qualifications, including being licensed to do business in Washington and having at least two years of experience providing low-cost legal assistance to immigrants. • The grant will fund services not available through other legal aid programs. • The grant requires adherence to relevant professional standards for the provision of legal assistance in immigration matters. • The grant prohibits duplication of effort from other state and federal programs and grants. • The grant has a total available funding of $1,741,000 for fiscal year 2026 and $1,723,000 for fiscal year 2027, with a maximum grant award of $300,000 per fiscal year.
