Description

Dakota County is seeking a single qualified contractor to provide full‑service appliance recycling for its new Recycling Zone Plus (RZP) facility. The contractor must collect a wide range of appliances (including freon‑containing units), store them on‑site in 53‑ft semi‑trailers, transport them to an approved recycling facility, and replace trailers within two business days of pick‑up requests. Detailed monthly reporting and invoicing are required, and all unit‑price rates must remain fixed for the contract term. • Collect and transport both freon‑ and non‑freon household appliances (≈ 5,000 units/yr). • Provide, maintain, and swap 53‑ft semi‑trailers on‑site; respond to pick‑up calls within 2 business days. • Submit itemized monthly invoices and weight/unit reports; adhere to fixed‑price schedule (Attachment A). • Contract runs 24 months (May 13 2026 – May 12 2028) with an optional two‑year extension; payment within 35 days of invoice.

Budget estimate

$300,000 – $600,000

No total contract ceiling is disclosed. Assuming the County will recycle > 5,000 appliances per year and the contractor charges roughly $30 – $50 per unit (including haul, trailer rental, and disposal fees), annual revenue could range from $150,000 to $250,000. Adding haul‑fee revenues for full‑trailer swaps (estimated $5,000 – $10,000 per month) brings total annual earnings to roughly $250,000 – $350,000, or $500,000 – $700,000 over the 2‑year base term. Therefore a reasonable estimate is $300k‑$600k for the contract.
