Ellsworth City Seal Removal, Stabilization & Assessment

The City of Ellsworth is seeking qualified historic preservation contractors, architectural conservators, and conservation firms to perform a phased removal, documentation, stabilization, and temporary storage of the historic City Hall Seal Pediment, followed by a detailed condition assessment and recommendations for full restoration. Phase 1 focuses on safely removing the 18‑foot wooden relief, protecting it from further deterioration, and producing a comprehensive assessment report to guide Phase 2 restoration. This effort is intended to preserve a 91‑year‑old civic artifact while allowing informed decisions on its eventual restoration and re‑installation. • Remove, document, and transport the historic wooden seal (≈18 ft long) from the City Hall gable. • Provide detailed rigging, weather‑protection, and custom crating, followed by climate‑controlled storage and professional condition assessment. • Deliver a Condition & Assessment Report with recommendations, specifications, and cost estimates for the subsequent restoration phase.
