Direct Commodity Purchases

The City of New Haven and Board of Education Food Service (BOE) is soliciting proposals for commercial and commodity food items shipped directly from manufacturers for the 2026 summer year and 2026-2027 school year. The New Haven Public Schools Child Nutrition Program serves approximately 17,500-19,000 meals per day. The contract will be for a period of 224 service days. The City is looking for a vendor who can provide high-quality food items, partner with Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (MWBEs), and provide excellent customer service. The proposal should include a detailed description of the vendor's approach, team, and experience, as well as a pricing proposal that includes all costs associated with the project. • The vendor should have experience in providing food services to large-scale entities. • The vendor should have a plan to partner with MWBEs and provide data on their participation. • The vendor should have a detailed list of items, including pack size and case size, reference sheet name and number. • The vendor should have excellent customer service and be able to provide implementation, transition, and training programs. • The vendor should have an electronic interface between the City's HORIZON system and the vendor's system.
