The State of Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking professional design services for repairs to an existing 12-stall garage for vehicle storage, including the addition of a new electrical service to the building, at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, IA. The selected firm will be responsible for providing design services, attending design kick-off meetings, and coordinating with the Construction Manager and other stakeholders. The project is expected to start in July 2025 and be completed by May 2026. Key responsibilities include: • Evaluating existing masonry wall conditions and providing structural engineering services • Designing new lighting, exit signage, battery-operated egress lighting, electric garage door openers, and heat/fire detectors • Coordinating with State agencies to confirm utilities and shutdown requirements • Providing detailed input on design schedule and assisting the Construction Manager in evaluating long lead times • Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and applicable codes and regulations The selected firm will be required to provide a lump sum pricing proposal, broken down into construction documents, bidding or negotiation assistance, and construction phase services.
