Columbia Branch - Historical Carnegie Building Renovation and Seismic Structural Upgrade of Unreinforced Masonry Building (URM)

The Seattle Public Library is seeking architectural and engineering teams to provide design and construction administration services for the renovation of its Columbia Branch Library. The project includes a historic Carnegie section and a 2004 addition, and requires expertise in historic preservation, structural engineering, building envelope restoration, and public institutional projects. The selected firm will work collaboratively with SPL staff, the City of Seattle, and other stakeholders to deliver the project on schedule. Key aspects of the project include: * Renovation of the historic Carnegie building and the 2004 addition * Seismic retrofit and building envelope restoration * Accessibility improvements and interior renovation * Compliance with current building and accessibility codes * Protection of newly installed HVAC systems * Value management and cost control * Collaboration with SPL staff, the City of Seattle, and other stakeholders * Delivery of the project on schedule Some of the key requirements for the consultant firm include: * Demonstrated experience in successfully realizing projects of similar size and type * Expertise in historic landmark and library design and construction * A local office within 150 miles of the greater Seattle area * A minimum of 8 years of continuous experience in design and engineering services * A minimum of 5 years of experience in work involving the successful renovation of historical landmark structures * A minimum of 5 years of experience in work involving library programming, design, and construction
