Description

South Brunswick Board of Education is seeking a single vendor (or consortium) to design, permit, install, operate, maintain, and eventually remove electric vehicle charging stations on board‑owned properties. The vendor will finance the installation, retain ownership of the equipment, and provide a revenue‑sharing model to the district. The contract runs for an initial five‑year term with renewal possible, and includes full lifecycle responsibilities from site evaluation through removal and site restoration. • Conduct site assessments, develop design and permitting packages, and obtain all required approvals. • Install chargers, electrical service upgrades, civil work, signage, and networking equipment at the vendor’s expense. • Operate the charging network (software platform, payment processing, customer support) and provide preventive/ corrective maintenance. • Deliver quarterly performance and revenue‑share reports; allow Board‑controlled remote activation and scheduling. • Remove all equipment and restore sites at contract end, retain records for at least seven years for audit purposes.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $800,000

Because the contract value is not disclosed, the vendor must front the installation cost (potentially $500 k–$2 M depending on number of sites) and will be compensated through a revenue‑sharing model. Assuming a modest 20‑30 % share of gross charging revenue and average annual gross revenue of $1 M–$3 M per site, the vendor’s net earnings over the five‑year term could range roughly from $200 k on the low end (few sites, modest usage) to $800 k on the high end (multiple high‑traffic locations). This estimate reflects installation costs, ongoing O&M expenses, and the variability of EV adoption rates.
