The City of Pittsburgh has awarded a contract to Whitey's Mobile Wash Inc. for undercarriage, chassis, and packer plate cleaning services. The contract is for a period of one year, with two optional one-year renewals. The contractor will provide all necessary equipment, supplies, and labor to perform the cleaning services. The City will furnish water for the cleaning process. The contract includes provisions for payment, insurance, and performance bonds. The contractor must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to environmental protection and worker safety. Key aspects of the contract include:
• The contractor will clean approximately 75 refuse/recycling trucks on an "as needed" basis over the duration of the contract.
• The contractor will use high-powered pressure-cleaning units that use hot water under pressure rather than steam to remove mud from the undercarriage and chassis of designated trucks.
• The contractor will wash, degrease, sanitize, and use a defogging process to eliminate bacteria in the City Refuse/Recycling Trucks, including the exterior of packing and carrier plates.
• The contractor must meet all Pennsylvania Environmental codes and use hoses no less than 200 feet in length to permit washing to be done in the refuse lot adjoining the City Garage Complex.
