Description

The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (URA) is seeking a multidisciplinary consultant team to conduct a comprehensive analysis to improve safety, visibility, and experiential quality in Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle and adjacent neighborhoods. The team will assess existing lighting conditions, identify locations with diminished visibility and safety concerns, and provide recommendations for lighting and public art improvements. The URA encourages sustainable and context-sensitive practices, including energy-efficient lighting strategies, reduction of light pollution, and durable materials. The selected consultant will produce clear and actionable deliverables, including a site inventory, conceptual lighting and public art recommendations, and a stakeholder engagement summary. Some key aspects of this opportunity include: • Improving nighttime safety and comfort in public spaces • Activating dark or underutilized locations through creative placemaking • Educating the public on Pittsburgh's history, culture, and environment • Engaging local artists, students, and community groups • Generating data and feedback to inform long-term public realm strategies

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate without more information on the scope of work and the URA's budget. However, based on the complexity of the project and the need for a multidisciplinary consultant team, a rough estimate could be between $200,000 and $500,000. This estimate takes into account the costs of conducting a comprehensive analysis, providing design recommendations, and engaging with local stakeholders. The final budget will depend on the URA's evaluation of the proposals and the selected consultant's fee proposal.
