Visual Gestural Specialist

The Alabama Department of Mental Health seeks a qualified Visual Gestural Specialist to provide ASL interpreting, language instruction, and related support services for deaf and hard‑of‑hearing consumers across the state’s mental‑health and substance‑abuse programs. The contractor will coordinate services, review invoices, participate in training, conduct assessments, develop program materials, and travel to rural locations as needed. The scope includes interpreting in day‑program and waiver activities, creating video‑based educational content, and assisting with service development. • Provide interpreting and language instruction for deaf/HOH patients and staff. • Coordinate services, review provider invoices, and offer technical assistance. • Attend training, conduct assessments, produce video materials, and travel statewide to support program activities.
