Description

The Town of Cary is seeking bids from qualified suppliers for the purchase of Caustic Soda for the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility. The facility uses approximately 900 dry tons of Caustic Soda per year. Bidders must have been established in the business of chemical manufacturing and/or procurement, and delivery for five years or more. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and product specification sheet for the Caustic Soda being bid. The Town reserves the right to add or delete specific impurity listings as required to meet all USEPA, SDWA, and NCDEQ water quality standards. Some key points to consider are: * The Caustic Soda must be suitable for feeding by means of metering pumps and other metering devices constructed of corrosion-resistant materials. * The chemical properties of the Caustic Soda must meet specific requirements, including a sodium oxide content of 38.0-39.9% and a sodium hydroxide content of 49.0-51.5%. * The Caustic Soda must be delivered in bulk tanker trucks designed and licensed to transport the material, and must comply with all safety regulations specified by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. * The successful bidder must be able to provide delivery within 48 hours of notification by the Town that re-supply is needed. * The Town reserves the right to inspect any shipment of Caustic Soda and reject it if it does not meet the requirements of the specifications.
