Description

Iowa State University is soliciting bids for a hyperspectral imaging system to be used in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department for non-destructive characterization of composition and quality attributes of dairy products. The system should include a complete turnkey system with a fully configured acquisition and analysis workstation, monitor, storage, and all required interface hardware. The system should be capable of imaging both small laboratory samples and larger commercial dairy products. The university prefers a perpetual license for at least three users and a delivery term of Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) to the installation location. The system should be delivered, installed, and fully operational by August 30, 2026. • The system should have a minimum of 600 spatial pixels across the field of view. • The system should be able to acquire high-resolution near-infrared (NIR) spectral images of cheese and other dairy products. • The system should support the development of predictive models, process monitoring, and graduate student training in advanced imaging, chemometrics, and artificial intelligence. • The system should be able to image a wide range of food and dairy products, including cheese blocks, cheese slices, shredded cheese, powders, dairy ingredients, and other food products. • The system should have a working distance that allows for optimal imaging of the sample surface.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or price range. However, based on the complexity of the system and the requirements, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the cost of similar hyperspectral imaging systems and the fact that the university is seeking a complete turnkey system. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of the hardware and software, the cost of installation and training, and the cost of any additional features or accessories.
