The Department of Energy is conducting market research to identify firms capable of delivering a deep‑borehole drilling effort at the Nevada National Security Site. The effort will involve design, engineering, procurement, rig modification, drilling a 24‑inch (OD) borehole to 6,500 ft TVD with the lower 1,400 ft left uncased, and managing all required subcontractors for casing, cementing, logging, and water logistics. Interested parties must submit an Expression of Interest/Request for Information response outlining capability, comparable experience, technical approach, and optional cost estimates.
• Scope includes full‑service delivery: design, engineering, long‑lead‑item procurement, rig modifications, drilling operations, loss‑circulation control, cementing, and down‑hole logging.
• Required deliverables: company profile, socio‑economic status, up to three comparable projects, technical summary (casing‑running, dual‑string RCR design, BHA concepts, LCM program, cementing schedule, logging feasibility, risk identification), and optional ROM cost breakdown.
• All personnel must be U.S. citizens; MSTS provides site infrastructure (pad, roads, geologists), while the offeror supplies fuel, water storage, generators, and optional housing.
• Submission deadline is 4 p.m. PST on the specified date in 2026; questions must be submitted by 1 p.m. PST on the same day. The anticipated award month is October 2027.
