Entertainment Buyer - SD State Fair

The State of South Dakota is seeking an experienced Entertainment Buyer to manage all aspects of Grandstand entertainment for the South Dakota State Fair over a five‑year contract. The buyer will be responsible for acquiring, negotiating, and overseeing 3‑4 major shows each fair year, handling all pre‑event planning, and providing on‑site management during the fair. The role requires deep knowledge of the entertainment market, strong contract negotiation skills, and the ability to coordinate logistics, security, merchandising, and financial settlement for each performance. • Acquire, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with 3‑4 Grandstand artists per fair year (2027‑2031). • Advance planning: coordinate technical, staging, catering, security, and promotional needs. • On‑site execution: manage day‑of operations, artist liaison, emergency plans, and final settlements. • Provide detailed cost proposals and past‑performance documentation; comply with insurance, bonding, and mandatory certifications. • Contract runs May 1 2026 – Sept 30 2031, with award expected May 18 2026.
