Water Meters

The City of Independence, Missouri is soliciting vendors to provide and deliver water meters that best meet the parameters set out in this RFP. The scope of this RFP is to provide and deliver water meters ranging in size from 5/8” to 8”. The meters must be electronic, solid-state, battery-operated flow measurement devices that utilize either electromagnetic or ultrasonic technology. The City anticipates replacing approximately 3,000 meters per year, and the vendor shall stipulate the cost of each meter with shipping included, annually, over the anticipated three-year agreement of the RFP. Some key features of the meters include: * Electronic, solid-state, battery-operated flow measurement device * Utilizes either electromagnetic or ultrasonic technology * Must be compatible with multiple Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) providers and platforms * Must have a non-replaceable battery and non-volatile memory * Must have a hermetically sealed register with a heat tempered glass cover and tamper-resistant seal screw or plastic tamper-proof seal pin * Must have a size and direction of water flow through the system cast or etched on the external housing and/or meter body * Must be capable of being field spliced to the existing ARB units * Must have the ability to be connected to multiple AMI meter platforms The City requires the vendor to provide a bond for faithful performance of the contract and for persons performing labor or furnishing materials in connection therewith. The vendor will guarantee that the equipment, materials, and workmanship furnished under the contract will be as specified and will be free from defect for a period of two years from the date of final City acceptance.
