Surveys and Certifications

The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS and IMF) is seeking a contractor to provide American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) survey services for their barges. The contractor will be responsible for performing dry-docking surveys, special surveys, annual surveys, intermediate surveys, and condition surveys for Loadline renewal. The contractor will also be required to approve PSNS and IMF proposed barge modification drawings to maintain compliance with ABS standards and requirements. The period of performance is estimated to be 5 years. Some of the key tasks include: • Field surveys to verify modifications, material, or repairs to ensure structural soundness of the barges • Annual surveys to report on existing damage and structural soundness of the barges • Special surveys to report on the structural soundness of the barges, including hull plate thickness gaugings, renewal of Load Line Certificate and Class Certificate • Intermediate surveys to report on the structural soundness of the barges • Drydocking surveys to report on the structural soundness of the barges • Travel to conduct site visits, inspections, and reviews • Administrative services for barges in Laid-Up status • Audits of PSNS C/135 and PSNS Dive Locker to certify their personnel are qualified to perform hull plate thickness gaugings and underwater hull inspections on behalf of ABS.
