Design Services Removal and Replacement of Absorption Chiller

Olmsted County is seeking qualified engineering/design firms to provide comprehensive design services for the removal of an aging 400‑ton absorption chiller (installed 1985) and the design of a new, appropriately sized replacement system. The scope includes demolition planning, mechanical system design, coordination with existing campus utilities, preparation of construction documents, and assistance with permitting. Respondents must attend a pre‑proposal meeting on September 1, 2026, and submit both technical and cost proposals by September 15, 2026. • Remove existing 400‑ton Trane absorption chiller and associated steam‑condensate infrastructure. • Develop design for a new absorption (or alternative) chiller system sized to meet peak campus cooling loads. • Produce detailed mechanical, piping, and control system drawings (HVAC plans, flow diagrams, sections, schedules). • Coordinate with county facilities, OWEF, and other stakeholders; attend pre‑proposal meeting. • Provide cost estimate, schedule, and compliance with Minnesota state procurement rules.
