Request for Information (RFI) Computing Partnerships

The Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking input from respondents with innovative ideas for public-private computing partnerships that can advance national interests, economic security, and national security. The DOE wants to build the future of computing and ensure the United States remains at the forefront of scientific and technological discovery. The agency is looking for partnerships that can provide access to capabilities that would not otherwise exist, empowering the academic community and the business sector. The DOE is considering criteria such as deployment speed, scale of resources, ability to accelerate innovation, and alignment with the DOE mission. • The DOE is seeking input on proposed partnerships, including who the partners may be and what each will contribute. • The DOE wants to know how the partnership will be financed, capitalized, and financially sustained. • The agency is looking for information on the business model for the partnership, including assumptions about how DOE and other U.S. Government agencies will serve as customers. • The DOE is interested in knowing what resources and capabilities the partnership will make available to DOE and what resources are needed from DOE to reach the goals of the partnership. • The agency wants to know what the partnership will add to national capabilities and what the timeline for the partnership is projected to be.
