Thunderstruck Crown Touch Release (CTR) Project – Timber Stand Improvement (TSI)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is seeking a contractor to perform Timber Stand Improvement (Crop Tree Release) on approximately 100-224 acres located on the Clinch Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests, Scott County, VA. The contractor will be required to provide all labor, equipment, supervision, tools, and incidentals to perform four-sided crown-touch release treatments according to the technical specifications. The contractor must have previous knowledge and experience in these services and must have the necessary equipment. The contract will be awarded based on best value, considering factors such as previous completion of similar work, knowledge of Southern Appalachian tree species, and price. Key points to consider: • The contract areas are located in mountainous terrain and can be steep and rocky. • The contractor must use every precaution necessary to prevent damage to trees not to be treated. • The contractor must take sufficient precautions to prevent pollution of lakes and streams. • The contractor must protect all trails, roads, ditches, fences, and other improvements in the project area. • The contractor will be paid based on the unit bid price for the trees treated to standard. • The contract has a period of performance from 08/17/2026 to 12/31/2026.
