Request for Information (RFI): Boxcar Interior Wood Lining

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is conducting market research to determine capabilities and estimated pricing from qualified vendors for the installation of interior protective lining on 38 used boxcars for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAAP). The lining must be installed on all interior vertical surfaces to prevent direct contact between ammunition packaging and the steel superstructure of the boxcars. The lining should be made of ¾” BCX Plywood and should be installed as high as the top of the cargo, which is approximately 5 feet. Respondents should provide a capability statement addressing their technical approach, sourcing, schedule, and rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimate. • The DOT is looking for vendors who can provide interior protective lining for 38 used boxcars. • The lining must be made of ¾” BCX Plywood and should be installed as high as the top of the cargo. • Respondents should provide a capability statement addressing their technical approach, sourcing, schedule, and ROM cost estimate. • The work must be performed at the IAAAP, and all personnel entering the facility must be able to provide proper identification and pass a background check.
