Description
The Department of Energy’s Golden Field Office is planning to issue a future Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) that will fund innovative technologies leveraging existing domestic biomass, refinery, and pipeline infrastructure to produce alternative chemicals, fuels, and feedstocks. The program aims to support research, development, and pilot‑scale demonstration of: • Liquid intermediate products derived from biomass that are stable and marketable as commodity chemicals or renewable fuels; • Production of commodity chemicals and fuels from alternative feedstocks using existing refinery assets; • Pilot sites that blend hydrogen with natural gas to emulate real‑world distribution networks and improve reliability, scalability, and performance. Applicants may be any unrestricted entity (industry, academia, non‑profit, etc.) that can demonstrate a viable technology pathway. Funding will be provided as financial assistance awards; exact award amounts and timelines will be detailed in the forthcoming NOFO.
