Diehl Hall Repurposing

The University of Minnesota is seeking a professional design services firm to facilitate the strategic renovation of Diehl Hall, located on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. The project entails a comprehensive modernization of the facility, including a full-scale interior gut and remodel, replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and an overhaul of fire suppression and life-safety systems. The selected firm will provide design services, including predesign, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. The firm will also partner with the University's Interior Designer to recommend and select furnishings. • The project requires a qualified, experienced, and licensed construction contractor for cost estimating services during the predesign phase. • The project involves a limited number of general wet bench laboratories, including fume hoods, to support the Health Sciences District. • The project requires compliance with current accessibility and building codes. • The project involves building envelope improvements, including roof and window replacements, and select exterior enhancements. • The project requires the design team to utilize Bluebeam for University Design Review sessions. • The project has an estimated construction cost of $120,000,000.
