The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is issuing an Office‑wide Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) to fund revolutionary research and development projects that advance national‑security technologies. Proposals must describe innovative, non‑incremental concepts within one of four technical thrust areas—Materials/Manufacturing/Energy, Sensing/Measuring/Affecting, Math/Computation/Processing, or Complex/Dynamic/Intelligent Systems. Funding will be provided through a variety of instruments (Cooperative Agreements, Procurement Contracts, or Other Transactions) with an optional accelerated‑award pathway for projects ≤ $2 M that can be awarded within 30 days of selection. An additional Fundamental Defense Research Talent Award (FDRTA) of up to $150 k per year is available for graduate‑student or post‑doctoral support on funded proposals. Eligibility is open to any responsible source except FFRDCs, UARCs, and government labs; small‑business, minority‑owned, and historically black institutions are encouraged. CMMC Level 1 (or Level 2 where required) compliance is mandatory for procurement or OT awards. Proposals must be submitted via DARPA’s Broad Agency Announcement Tool (BAAT), with an abstract (executive summary) due by August 27 2027, and a question‑submission deadline of August 6 2027.
