Description

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is requesting proposals for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) direct current (DC) fast charging stations in select Minnesota locations along key charging corridors. The goal of this project is to increase the use of EVs in place of gas-powered cars, mitigating nitrogen oxides and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the state. The MPCA anticipates awarding approximately $1,890,000, with a maximum of 80% of project costs, up to $150,000 per 150 kilowatt (kW) dual-port fast charging station. Grantees will be required to provide a 20% cash match. The project includes the installation of fast charging stations, utility equipment upgrades, and associated costs. • The installation of 150 kW dual-port DC fast charging stations • Utility equipment upgrades, such as transformers and extensions • Concrete, asphalt, conduit, signage, bollards, and cable/wiring • Labor for researching and securing the host site, directly related to the acquisition, site design, and engineering, installation, commissioning, or activation, and maintenance • Shipping of equipment • Five-year service agreement for maintenance for charging station and equipment • Five-year warranties for DC fast chargers

Budget estimate

$1,040,000 – $1,950,000

The budget for this opportunity can be estimated based on the total amount of funding available, which is approximately $1,890,000. With a maximum of 80% of project costs, up to $150,000 per 150 kilowatt (kW) dual-port fast charging station, the actual budget will depend on the number of stations installed and the total project costs. Assuming an average project cost of $100,000 per station, the budget could range from $80,000 to $150,000 per station. With a minimum of 13 stations anticipated, the total budget could range from $1,040,000 to $1,950,000. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget will depend on the specific proposals and project costs. Factors influencing the likely payment range include the number of stations installed, the total project costs, and the percentage of project costs covered by the grant.
