Eddy Scanner Unit- Dover AFB

The Department of the Air Force, 436th Contracting Squadron, Dover AFB is intending to issue a direct award to United Western Technologies Corp. (UniWest) for the Eddy Current Array Unit. The Non-destructive Inspection Section is currently operating with one Eddy Current Array unit and is requesting to get a second unit as they currently only have one, which results in inspections taking longer to complete. The justification for soliciting from a single source or brand name is due to the specific equipment purchased from UniWest, as well as part numbers, being required by the T.O. 1C-5M-36 supplement 3 paragraph 1.9.13.3. • The Eddy Current Array Unit is used for inspections during every major Isochronal (ISO) aircraft arriving at Dover AFB. • The current unit is insufficient, resulting in longer inspection times. • The T.O. 1C-5M-36 supplement 3 paragraph 1.9.13.3 requires the specific equipment purchased from UniWest. • UniWest is the sole manufacturer and supplier of the equipment prescribed in the T.O. 1C-5M-36.
