Northrup Auditorium Lighting Upgrade

The University of Minnesota is seeking a design services firm to provide upgrades to the house lighting systems at Northrop Auditorium, a historic performance venue. The selected firm will evaluate existing lighting systems, develop replacement and/or upgrade solutions, and produce complete design and construction documentation. The project includes the front-of-house areas, main auditorium, and Best Buy Theater house lighting. The firm will provide professional services necessary to complete the schematic design, design development, and construction documents phases. Key considerations include energy efficiency, system longevity, and operational reliability, as well as respect for the historic performance venue's architectural and aesthetic features. • The project requires the design team to evaluate existing house lighting and control systems and develop replacement and/or upgrade solutions. • The team must provide complete design and construction documentation, including cost estimates, and identify constraints or considerations that may affect future construction phasing or sequencing. • The project is limited to design and documentation services only, with construction and installation to be delivered as a separate project under a separate contract. • The University has assembled various documents for review by the respondent, including the RFP, attachments, and University-provided information. • The respondent must prepare and submit a project work plan, project schedule, and project fee, and must participate in a pre-proposal meeting, which is non-mandatory but highly encouraged.
