Description

The Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) is seeking competitive proposals to supply up to 30 MW firm capacity at their Delta Energy Park (DEP) site. The proposals will help the BWL peak shave, meet legislative targets, and continue toward carbon neutrality. The BWL will consider any proven and commercially viable electric supply resources that can provide renewable or clean energy. Some key aspects of the project include: • The project will be connected to the BWL transmission on DEP’s site. • Proposals must be for at least 10 years and include an early buy-out provision. • The BWL will be the scheduling coordinator with MISO if required. • All primary offers must have a Commercial Operation Date (COD) on or before June 1, 2029. • The project must submit an Interconnection Application with Data to BWL to become eligible to bid into this RFP. • The delivery point will be shown on the bidder's one diagram submitted with the interconnection application. • A nameplate capacity between 10 MW and 30 MW is required. • Storage resources are expected to operate at approximately 365 cycles/year and a maximum of 2 cycles/day.

Budget estimate

$30,000,000 – $150,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the cost of generating electricity from various sources. The cost of renewable energy sources like solar and wind has decreased significantly over the years, making them more competitive with traditional fossil fuel-based power generation. Assuming an average cost of $30-50 per MWh for renewable energy, the total budget for a 10-year contract could be in the range of $30 million to $150 million, depending on the actual cost of generation and the amount of electricity generated. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget could vary based on various factors, including the specifics of the project, the technology used, and the terms of the contract.
