Media Relations RFP

The Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) is seeking a vendor to provide professional media relations services. The selected partner will help enhance IPERS' public profile, manage media outreach, and support strategic communications initiatives. The scope of services includes goal setting, media coordination, media training, and more. The vendor should have demonstrated expertise in strategic communications and media relations, with experience working with clients in Iowa and the investment/financial management and benefits administration industries. • The vendor will work in partnership with IPERS' Strategy Division to support IPERS' staff's skills as an external expert. • The vendor will provide ongoing media training, including message creation and preparation for interviews, and assessments of performance. • The vendor will attend or listen to recordings of IPERS' Investment Board and Benefits Advisory Committee meetings to identify newsworthy opportunities. • The vendor will provide regular reports on media coverage and campaign performance. • The vendor will assign value to earned media using a model that will be provided. The contract will be for an initial term of three years, with the option for a three-year extension, subject to mutual agreement. The contract may be terminated by IPERS at its discretion, with or without cause, after 30 days' written notice to the vendor.
