The California Energy Commission’s RECESS program provides grant funding to install reliable electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure for school‑bus fleets across California. Eligible applicants (public LEAs or third‑party transportation providers) may receive up to $22 million in total funding, with per‑port awards of $20 k for Level‑2 chargers and $37.5 k for DC fast chargers. Projects must be completed within 36 months of agreement execution and include a 12‑month data‑collection phase. The solicitation requires detailed project narratives, CEQA compliance plans, utility coordination strategies, and letters of commitment, and evaluates proposals on implementation readiness, team experience, and innovation.
