Description

The City of New Haven is seeking proposals for the adaptive reuse and activation of the former CT Transit information booth located on the Chapel Street side of the New Haven Green. The city is looking for a clear, feasible, and creative proposal that will transform the site into an active and welcoming asset, enhancing pedestrian experience, supporting transit riders, and contributing to the vibrancy and safety of the area. Proposals may include small-format retail or convenience uses, arts and cultural programming, tourism-oriented services, or community service providers. The city will prioritize respondents that demonstrate operational feasibility, a clear business or programming model, and the ability to maintain an attractive and well-managed presence at the site. Some key points to consider include: • The site is approximately 100 SF and is located in a highly visible, transit-oriented location. • The city is open to flexible rental terms and arrangements that support successful activation while ensuring long-term sustainability. • Proposals should include a project concept, operations and maintenance plan, and a financial proposal. • The city reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any informalities or irregularities. • The evaluation criteria include project concept and site activation, public benefit and transit/pedestrian experience, operations and maintenance, feasibility and compatibility of use with site constraints, implementation schedule, and lease and revenue structure.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the small scale of the project and the city's emphasis on flexible rental terms. The actual budget will depend on the proposal submitted and the city's evaluation of the respondent's financial capacity and proposal. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the scope of work, the complexity of the project, and the city's budget for the initiative.
