Engineering Services for Arc Flash Study

The City of Ames is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide electrical engineering services for an Arc Flash Study for several critical facilities for the Water and Pollution Control Department. The study shall be conducted at four facilities in Ames, including the City of Ames Water Treatment Plant, Old Water Treatment Plant High Service Pump Station, State and Mortenson Elevated Water Tank Pump Station, and NADC Elevated Water Tank Pump Station. The scope of work includes preliminary engineering, system analysis, arc flash labeling, and training services. The selected firm will be responsible for collecting data, preparing technical specifications and drawings, and providing arc flash warning labels on all applicable equipment. • The project requires the selected firm to ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, NFPA 70 standards, IEEE 1584-2018 standards, and industry safe standards. • The final report submitted to the City must have the seal of a professional engineer that has confirmed the accuracy and reliability of all documents submitted. • The City expects the selected firm to deliver an on-site presentation to discuss the results of the study and safety information. • The City also requests a digital and paper copy of an arc flash safety manual for its records.
