Request for Proposal for OAP Optics for the ESC Instruments

The University of Arizona is seeking a qualified vendor to design, fabricate, coat, test, and deliver custom off‑axis parabolic (OAP) mirrors for the Exoplanet Characterization (ESC) instrument’s coronagraph. The mirrors must meet stringent optical surface‑error, roughness, and coating durability specifications and be vacuum‑compatible for space deployment. The contract will initially run for two years with options for three one‑year extensions, and the vendor must provide full documentation, certification, and packaging for shipment from Tucson, AZ. • Manufacture 30 precision OAP mirrors (two complete sets of 15) to exacting tolerances (≤ 5 nm RMS surface error, < 0.4 nm roughness for early mirrors). • Apply high‑performance reflective coatings (AOI 15°‑30°, 400‑750 nm band) and supply full metrology, testing, and certification reports. • Deliver within 6‑9 months of purchase order receipt, FOB Tucson, with optional expedited delivery and value‑added services.
