On-Call Preservation Planning Services

The City of Nevada City is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to provide on-call preservation planning services. The services will include serving in an advisory capacity to the City in updating the City's Design Guidelines for fire resiliency and on projects within the City's Historical District or other historically significant properties. The consultant will be required to have expertise in historic preservation, architectural guidelines, and regulatory framework development. The contract will be for a period of 18 months, with the option to renew. The City reserves the right to reject all proposals and to modify or cancel the Request for Proposal. • The consultant will be required to provide guidance and advice on preservation planning topics, including the use of new fire-resistant materials that are architecturally consistent with the existing buildings. • The consultant will be required to prepare memos, analyses, and reports on preservation planning topics. • The consultant will be required to support community engagement and work with stakeholders, including the Ad Hoc Committee on Preservation of Downtown Against Wildfire, and property and business owners, as well as elected and appointed officials. • The consultant will be required to assist with grants for preservation and with CEQA and NEPA compliance. • The consultant will be required to have experience in historic preservation and have prior experience applying and interpreting the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Preservation and Preservation Briefs.
