MAHI ʻAI MICRO FUND ADMINISTRATOR

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is seeking a qualified firm to administer the Mahi ʻai Micro Fund, a microgrant program that provides financial assistance to Native Hawaiian farmers. The selected firm will establish a service partnership with a Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) to administer the program. The goal of the program is to relieve fixed expenses such as property taxes and water utility bills, allowing farmers to retain more capital to strengthen and sustain their operations. The firm will be responsible for distributing microgrants of up to $5,000 per funding recipient. Key responsibilities include: • Administering the microgrant program • Distributing financial assistance to Native Hawaiian farmers • Providing administrative support and technical assistance • Ensuring compliance with program requirements and regulations • Managing program finances and reporting on program outcomes. The OHA has allocated a maximum of $140,000 for this program, and the selected firm will be required to specify the amount of funding that will be distributed to farmers in their proposal.
