Science of Reading Consultant

The Iowa Department of Education is seeking a qualified literacy expert to serve as a Science of Reading Consultant. The consultant will work closely with the Department to develop guidance documents, toolkits, resources, and support materials that help teachers and families implement evidence‑based reading instruction across the state. The effort includes research synthesis, creation of instructional frameworks, pilot testing of materials, and ongoing advisory services. • Scope: develop statewide literacy guidance, tools, and resources aligned with the Science of Reading. • Deliverables: guidance documents, teacher/family resource kits, implementation toolkits, training webinars, and a final report with recommendations. • Audience: K‑12 educators, school districts, and families throughout Iowa. • Timeline: proposal submission by 11/16/2026; project work expected to commence shortly after award. • Required expertise: demonstrated experience in literacy instruction, curriculum development, and consulting for education agencies.
