USCGC Smilax Crane Service

The United States Coast Guard is seeking a qualified crane and rigging contractor to provide short‑term on‑site crane services at the USCGC SMILAX cutter located in Atlantic Beach, NC. The contractor must lift a 8,500 lb boom (and associated 1,000 lb boom stop) off the cutter, place it on a pier, install a new 8,500 lb boom supplied by the government, and then lift the assembled boom back onto the cutter for final bolting by the crew. The effort includes all necessary inspections, adherence to best‑practice lifting procedures, daily progress meetings with the Engineer Petty Officer, and a post‑completion trip report submitted within 48 hours. The work must be completed within a maximum of two calendar days from award. • Provide crane capable of lifting up to 8,500 lb and certified riggers. • Perform removal, replacement, and re‑installation of the boom and boom stop at the cutter’s location. • Conduct system operational testing and deliver electronic reports compatible with DHS Windows/Microsoft Office. • Travel to Atlantic Beach, NC; work generally 07:30‑16:00 CST, with possible overtime.
