Statewide Mid-Century Modern (MCM) Review

The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is seeking an architectural historian to complete a single Multiple Property Documentation Form (MPDF) for all state park above-ground structures and landscape features classified as Mid-Century Modern (built between 1935 to 1975, MCM). The successful applicant will also complete a nomination form to the National Register of Historic Places for Fort Dummer State Park in Guilford, Vermont. The scope of work includes maintaining regular consultation with Park’s Division staff and the Division for Historic Preservation, and submitting the MPDF and Fort Dummer State Park nomination to the Vermont State Historic Preservation Office and National Register of Historic Places. • The MPDF shall be completed following the National Park Service Bulletin 16B: How to complete the National Register Multiple Property Documentation Form. • The review will include at least two typologies for parks, including parks constructed entirely within the Mid-Century Modern Period and parks that the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed between 1933-1942 and were later supplemented with Mid-Century Modern resources. • The consultant will submit the MPDF and Fort Dummer State Park nomination to the Vermont State Historic Preservation Office and National Register of Historic Places for processing. • The consultant will provide a proposed timeline for completion of the project. • Deliverables include the MPDF and Fort Dummer State Park nomination, including required photographs and mapping.
