Architectural Engineering Services for Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Public Health Laboratory (DPHL2)

The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) is seeking architectural and engineering services for the construction of a new 220,000-square-foot laboratory building for the Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The project includes the design and construction of BSL1 and BSL2 labs for newborn screening, as well as a BSL3 separate facility. The selected firm will be required to work in close collaboration with DSHS, TFC, and other stakeholders to deliver a flexible, innovative, and technically complex facility. The project represents a significant investment in advancing DSHS's mission. Key aspects of the project include: • Expanding existing laboratory space to accommodate evolving technology and growing population • Providing state-of-the-art clinical and molecular diagnostic testing space • Designing the new building to accommodate current operational needs while allowing for long-term growth and flexibility • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver the project • The project has an approximate cost of construction of $200,000,000. The scope of work for the selected firm will include full design services for the construction of the new laboratory building.
