Description

The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking information on commercially available, mature artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can accelerate and strengthen the international regulatory interface between the applicant and the regulator throughout the nuclear licensing process. The tools should support both the applicant and the regulator in preparing, mapping, and submitting license application content across jurisdictions. The INL is interested in AI tools and platforms that support international regulator's licensing review function, including intelligent search and discovery, understanding and relating requirements, and identification of resolved topics and open items. • The tools should be applicable across the full range of reactor classes, including microreactors, small modular reactors, advanced non-light-water reactors, new large light water reactors, and existing reactor upgrades. • The tools should have demonstrated, deployed experience applying AI specifically to nuclear energy, licensing, compliance, or safety documentation. • The tools should have been developed, validated, deployed, or otherwise substantively engaged with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). • The tools should be able to deploy within various international sovereign cloud tenants or meet the issuing authority's data residency, security, and confidentiality requirements.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not provide a specific budget or cost range. However, based on the scope of the project and the fact that it involves the development and deployment of AI tools, the budget could be substantial. A rough estimate could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million, depending on the complexity of the tools and the scope of the project. The budget will likely depend on the specific requirements of the project, the experience and qualifications of the respondent, and the level of competition for the opportunity.
