Request for Proposals for Community Production Partner – Juneteenth Celebration 2027

The City of Asheville seeks a qualified organization to serve as the primary production partner for the 2027 Juneteenth Celebration, delivering a free, community‑focused, multi‑day event that honors the historical significance of Juneteenth while showcasing local culture, businesses, and arts. The partner will be responsible for all aspects of event planning, programming, logistics, vendor management, sponsorship acquisition, budget administration, and post‑event reporting. The contract is for an initial one‑year term with the possibility of two additional one‑year renewals, and the City will provide approximately $20,000 in cash support (historical reference) plus in‑kind services. • Lead design and execution of a city‑wide Juneteenth celebration (programming, performances, exhibitions, youth activities, wellness spaces, etc.) • Manage vendor and volunteer coordination, secure sponsorships, and handle all logistical needs (permits, site setup, equipment, safety, waste) • Administer the event budget, ensure compliance with public‑funding rules, and submit a comprehensive post‑event report.
