Description

The City of Alexandria is soliciting two state‑licensed asbestos abatement contractors to provide full‑service removal, demolition, and disposal of asbestos‑containing materials on residential and commercial demolition projects throughout the city. Work will be assigned on a rotating “work‑order” list, with contractors required to meet strict wet‑demolition, air‑monitoring, and waste‑disposal protocols, and to submit detailed fee schedules for a per‑square‑foot (or per‑linear‑foot) unit price schedule that the City will negotiate. The contract is a one‑year PSA beginning Jan 1 2027, with two optional renewal years, and includes liquidated damages and de‑barment clauses for non‑performance.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $1,500,000

No total contract value is disclosed; however, typical municipal asbestos abatement contracts range from $400 K to $2 M annually depending on the volume of square footage and number of work orders. Assuming an average of 10,000 sf of ACM removed per year at $100–$150 per sf, the contract could be worth roughly $1.0 M to $1.5 M over the base year, with additional fees for emergency, restricted‑access, and per‑diem items.
