Placemaking Partners

The City of Indianapolis is seeking a placemaking partner to manage and activate public spaces in the downtown area. The partner will be responsible for developing a sense of ownership, getting to know the space, and evaluating and inspecting it. The city expects the partner to provide oversight, not serve as security, and to contribute 50% of third-party rental income back into the public spaces. The city is looking for a partner that can strengthen community, embrace inclusivity, and expand access, ensuring people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and income levels feel genuinely welcomed. Some key points to consider: • The city is looking for a four-year agreement with a renewal option. • The partner will be responsible for providing programming and partnerships that reflect the many nationalities and cultures that call Indianapolis home. • The city is prepared to discuss historical operating, security, and programming cost data for each space with interested vendors. • The partner will be expected to spend time in the space to develop a sense of ownership and to evaluate and inspect it. • The city will share event information, and the partner should maintain a database or mailing list to share events and use stakeholder meeting resources.
