Description
The City of Winder, GA is seeking a qualified attorney (or law firm) to serve as the municipal Public Defender, providing full criminal defense representation to indigent defendants from initial appointment through trial, sentencing, and any required bail hearings. The contract is for an initial one‑year term with up to four optional one‑year renewals. Compensation may be submitted as a per‑case fee or hourly rate, and the defender must submit monthly case reports and maintain professional liability coverage.
• Represents all indigent defendants in Winder Municipal Court (court held Fridays 8 am‑12 pm)
• Required qualifications: JD, Georgia Bar admission, ≥6 months practice
• Contract term: 1 year (renewable up to 4 additional years)
• Compensation: fee‑per‑case or hourly rate (to be proposed)
• Reporting: monthly detailed client/case report due by the 10th of the following month
